 The organizational culture is highly important and unique to organization to organization.  Organizational Culture is simply put as the commonly shared set of values, perceptions, norms, and behaviors that depict and guide the way of organizational and employee functions. Organizational culture is the identity of any organization that essentially shapes and models how people interact with each other, approach their allocated work, and also make decisions (He, 2023). A strong and positive organizational culture fosters employee engagement, enhanced productivity, employee commitment and loyalty driving better organizational performance (He, 2023). In opposition, dysfunctional and negative organizational culture could result in high employee turnover, internal conflicts and declining performance of the individuals and the organization.

The HR has a major role in fostering and maintaining positive and constructive organizational culture. Some of these key responsibilities could be elaborated as follows.

For a positive organizational culture, diversity and inclusion is crucial. HR has a major role in promoting diversity and inclusion within the organization by ensuring fair and unprejudiced hiring and promoting, training the employees on anti- bias and sensitivity matters and finally fostering a safe and secure workplace for all (www.linkedin.com, n.d.). Secondly, HR department is mainly responsible for establishing and practicing clear and precise set of organizational core values and ethics. HR could help in defining, setting up and properly communicating organizational core values and ethics. A set of clear expectations on employee behavior, conduct and accountability could really foster a culture of mutual respect and also integrity (Westford University College, 2023).

Creating a positive working environment impacts the organizational culture. HR could develop policies and initiatives that promote employee engagement, collaboration, innovation, better communication and also a sense of community (Westford University College, 2023). A positive work environment could include incentivizing for exceptional behavior, providing better career growth opportunities and better grievance handling and conflict management.

By Strategically aligning HR practices like recruitment, engagement, performance management to the employee lifecycle could promote expected organizational culture (Anon, 2024). Furthermore, HR plays a crucial role in leading change in organizational cultural changes and demonstrating desired behaviors and mindset that needs to be reflected in the organizational culture.

In conclusion, in understanding, modelling and sustaining a healthy organizational culture, HR is vital to ultimately achieve overall success and create a growing workforce.
